Day 26 of the Summer of Martie--with a REALLY big sister!
I've had this girl on order and layaway for what seems like years, and didn't talk about her here because I sometimes felt as though she'd never make it home. Then last week I got the shipping info, squeed and fretted for three days, and today she's here! Martie is being very helpful and showing her around. Martie is also a bit disconcerted that this new girl can pick her up and almost put her in her pocket, but all the same, she's happy to see her sister home.
She's a Dollmore Lusion Daish. Here she is, fresh out of the box, in the ballerina outfit, eyes, and wig she arrived in:
Look at her faceup! That's a default, not a custom. The coloring looked a bit dark when I first saw her, but I'm getting used to it, and I think with a red wig, the color will *snap* just right.
She's 80 cm tall, about 2.5 feet, and can wear some baby clothes, which will do fine until I can get some clothes made just for her. In the first pic she's wearing a Harujuku romper I found brand new at a Goodwill nearby. She also weighs 4.2 kilos, around 9.5 pounds, so no purse rides for this girl. I will eventually take her to Target to get some shoes and find tshirts and pants that will fit. That could be an adventure in itself. Yes, I'll take pics!

Day 24 of the Summer of Martie--with weeds!
Or grass, or whatever it is, I'm not a gardener. Some of it is ivy. It's green, it covers the ground, that's good enough for me.

Day 22 of the Summer of Martie--with a kitty!
Hi, everyone, it's Martie! And today I have my little friend, Tomkin, who is really rather shy. Show your pretty face, Tomkin!
Oh, come on, little dude, everyone's very nice! Please show us your killer cuteness. There we are! What a pretty kitty you are!
Good kitty! Ooooh, what fewwocious claws you have!
I guess that was enough for today. Yes, dear, you can have a kitty treat now. Let go of my neck first, okay?
Tomkin is a Fairyland Puki Puki Pukisha, about 4" tall, and shy as all get-out.

Day 21 of the Summer of Martie--with a sandwich!
I take a lot of pictures of Martie wearing a brown leather backpack, including the very first pics I posted of her. I've been asked if there's anything in the backpack, and of course there is! Martie needs her stuff like everyone else.
In the front pocket, she has two pencils (always writing and sketching), 4 quarters in case we run across a crane machine, an Irish tuppence because you never know where you'll end up, and a flattened penny from our trip to the National Zoo last November.
Here's a shot of the inside. What is all that stuff? Why is there a braid sticking out?
Martie has her own Mini-Me! She also has a bottle of Mt Dew (which is actually lip gloss for Charlie), a business card for DBB in case she gets lost (horrors!), a book to read, a composition book and a legal pad, and a bubble lunch.
The book is a mini copy of the Zalinski Rapunzel, including the text, that we got at TonnerCon. Neat, eh?
And here we are, all the essentials!
What's in YOUR bag today?

DBB has a Facebook page!
Please please go "LIKE"! I'd appreciate it like crazycakes. And so would Martie! :D

Day 20 of the Summer of Martie--with crafts!
Martie and I straightened up my living room worktable just a bit--it doesn't look neat at all, but believe me, it's a HUGE improvement!
Yes, there are tiny dolly feet sticking up in the purple bucket! Works in progress (new paint or clothes fitting or something along those lines; I always have two or three dolls in there).
What made us decide to do this was a need to have some room to actually do some crafts! Char of Doll Diaries posted this cute 3D Rapunzel papercraft from DisneyFamily, which we'll try later today, and I wondered what else might be on that site for our Rapunzel-loving soul.
I seriously love this frying-pan necklace and will probably make a smaller version for Martie.
For my 42" Masterpiece Rapunzel, a Rapunzel's crown with a printable template!
This pumpkin carving will be on my doorstep this Halloween.
An easy-to-make purse with a golden braid handle is a very cute accessory for little girls ages 3-103!
And on Squiddo is a post with a compilation of Rapunzel crafts.
That ought to keep Martie and me busy for a few days!

For those who love 18" play dolls and other dolls.....
.....Paradise Galleries is having a summer sale that has some of its Tender Hearts girls down to $19.99.
I have two PG dolls, a Tender Hearts girl and a Rapunzel, and they're both good quality and adorable. I know they've had a bit of a PR problem in the past (understatement, from what I hear), but for $19.99, you're getting a quality doll at a good price. These dolls are also offered for $5.00 flat rate shipping!

Day 18 of the Summer of Martie--with bees!
Okay, we didn't actually capture the bees in an image, but they were hovering about the flowers. We didn't bother them, they didn't bother us, and the Universe is in balance, HUZZAH!!

Day 16 of the Summer of Martie, with crayons.
FINALLY we get out of the house for a little while! We took a little trip to the nearby Staples to get some 11 x 17 paper that Kevin needed. First, a stop for gas.
Hot as an oven with the air turned off, and nary a breeze to be felt. Gunh.
The Staples was much cooler, though! We found some school supplies (too early, I say!! TOO EARLY!), which means that somewhere nearby there must be.....
The Crayola display! Coloring and pencil and paint and paper and CRAYONS. Martie was overjoyed. A box of crayons and some of Kevin's 11x 17 paper--bigger than she is--and Martie is happily occupied for the evening.

Day 15 of the Summer of Martie--with ice cream!
The girls are getting very restless with being kept inside in the air conditioning and away from the sun and heat outside (seriously, that is *no good* for the resin, vinyl, or plastic that they're made of)(so thanks, weather, for mucking up my photographic intentions). We decided to have a Tea-Time Treats picnic indoors, and as you can see, they're all happily having their sweets and chatting away about...actually, I'm not sure what they're talking about, as I do not know what a "Bieber" is. Some electronic device, I suspect. Anyway, here they are, happy to break the monotony:
Have a delightful summer evening, everyone!

Day 14 of the Summer of Martie....
And HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY from Pittsburgh, where it is too hot to take pics outside and not dark enough for fireworks, so we put our noodles together and did our best.
Martie and Robin wish all a HAPPY FOURTH and give a big salute to everyone, past and present, who's worked so hard and sacrificed so much to make America great.
Yes, my screen is all smudgy. Hush up. Focus on the dollies.

Day 13 of the Summer of Martie.
The girls are allowed to sit up late tonight and watch Gone with the Wind on TCM.
Martie! Your head's in the way! Sit down!
How did they make that dress overnight with no sewing machines?
Movie Magic! *fairy dust*
Oh. Can we have popcorn now?

A very warm Day 12 of the Summer of Martie.
Martie: Charlie wanted to find out if it had cooled down enough to turn the air conditioning off. She said something about the electric bill and global warming. Mostly about the electric bill, though.
Rose: Well, those are important to think about, but...oh, my, is it hot.
So what do you think? Should I turn off the a/c?
Martie and Rose: NO!!
*sigh* I hope it's cooler tomorrow.... (reality note: it won't be).
Martie: And the sun just came out and made it worse! Ugh!
Rose: Do you think if we sat here long enough, our bums would melt to the concrete?
Martie: Let's go back inside, please! I think even my hair will melt!
You exaggerate, dears, but yes, we'll go back inside. Maybe I can turn the a/c down to....
Rose and Martie: NOOO!!!
Gratuitous shot of Holly. That tongue flash made me laugh.
